Jean Fox was born in 1949 in the North East of England and began to play the Alto Sax at 13 years of age. She joined Ivy Bensons band in 1965, at the age of 16, making her one of the youngest recruits to the Band; she started playing Alto, but in later years changed to Baritone Sax.

After playing Summer Seasons in the Isle of Man, Jersey and Torquay, touring the continent and travelling all over the UK , she finally left the band in 1970. While playing in Torquay she had met Paul Leibrick at one of the gigs, and in 1972 they married. In 1976 their first child was born (Michelle) and in 1980 a second child (Jayne) was born.

Jean lives in Redcar, UK with her husband Paul, still playing professionally with a number of local bands including the Guisborough Big Band. Michelle lives close by and gives saxophone tuition to local budding musicians as well as playing with her mother in the Guisborough band.
