Eighteen year old songstress Sally Sykes, of High Ackworth, is the first pin-up girl for officers at Pocklington Borstal Institution. A picture of her - in tight trousers and sweater - is pinned up in their club, "The Dog House".

Sally, now touring Germany with her group, the "Alley Cats", is delighted with the news. "This is the nicest compliment that has ever been paid to me", she said. "Being dedicated to the work they do, training and teaching delinquent boys to a better way of life, makes these officers very special people".

Sally leads an all-girl beat group formed by the band leader, Ivy Benson, earlier this year.

Recently she had another success - passing her driving test in double quick time.
