No Eyeglasses, please!

Ivy always wanted the girls to look as glamorous as possible when we were playing on the bandstand.
She did NOT want those of us who wore glasses to wear them on the stand.
I was, and am still, very myopic and had worn glasses since my early teens for reading.


I often had a difficult job trying to read the sheet music, as did Ann Blair,
a trombone player in the band. Ivy used to lecture us by saying if we would
"do" eye exercises we wouldn't need to wear glasses!
