Tea at the Corner House

As a young lad of about twelve, I have fond memories of visiting Lyons Corner Houses in London as a treat with my parents. In early post-war Britain, still restrictred by rationing of just about everything, there was something quite magical to sit in such splendour having "High Tea" in such surroundings.

But my most enduring memory is of the presence of the fabulous "Ivy Benson all girl Band" entertaining us whilst we indulged ourselves with delicious sandwiches (no crusts, of course!) and lemon curd cakes. I've often wondered over the succeeding years why there have been no records available of this wonderful, talented band. I can only assume that they never committed their music to disc.

But then, I wonder....
