The Band returns
(Recalled by Pat "Haggis" Gentles - Feb 2004)

Ivy and the girls got back from their Germany tour in early March 1959 and right away I started doing shows with them at United States Air Force bases around London. I was very glad to be back with the them and I really enjoyed entertaining the American audiences again.

In May we journeyed to the Isle of Man to spend another summer season there. This one passed much like the previous summer with very appreciative audiences. Some of the visitors we remembered from the last year. At the end of each show in the Gardens, the audiences would crowd around us as we made our way to the Villa Marina building itself to get to the dressing rooms backstage.

I would be asked to pose for pictures with them and sometimes I'd be asked to hold a baby while they took their photos. This was a very enjoyable part of the show and I always stayed as long as they wanted me to. I was also getting coverage in the Liverpool papers for the work I was doing with Ivy. Jimmy Staples was here again with Ken Mackintosh's band, so we saw each other all the time, and at the end of the summer we toured Ireland again.
